Maritime Warrior is the organisation behind Run Amuk Cruises. It utilises Run Amuk Cruises to raise funds in support of Service men and women. Maritime Warrior will be supplying some lucky members the opportunity to embark on cruises and earn once off experiences.
The Veteran Maritime Warrior Project supports both past and present Military & Emergency Service men and women through a variety of programs that centre around welfare, wellness and resilience. As members of Southport Yacht Club SYC, Maritime Warrior Project understands the benefits of what being part of a family based organisation can do and are dedicated to supporting veterans who support the community. Their mission is to encourage veterans, charities and the general public to head for the water, sun and salt air. It’s well recognised that the outdoors, in particular being around water, provides for a range of cognitive, physical and emotional therapy for people.
Sounds of water, the slow, whooshing noises are sounds of non-threats and allows the brain to achieve a meditative state, relaxing the tension in your muscles and feelings of anxiousness.
Salt air, when your lungs are filled with it, your brain receives instant benefits as the negative ions in the ocean air works to help calm your brain.
The Blue Waves, studies have shown that different colours often produce different psychological, emotional, and physical effects. The colour blue for instance, conveys a sense of calmness and is proven to reduce stress.
As a result, the overwhelming mental health benefit from being on or by the sea is staggering. Veterans have every chance to increase feelings of self-worth, purpose and create a sense of belonging, they become better models of themselves within the safety of this community. The Maritime Warrior project is rewarding, exciting, and has something to Pique an interest with everyone.
